Toronto – Munich: The West’s Blatant Lies to Persuade America and Discourage the Labor Opposition

Abbas Goya

What is the purpose of the blatant lies by the governments of Canada(1) and Germany about the number of participants in yesterday’s demonstrations in Toronto and Munich, and the reflection of these lies in British and French media?

1. To discourage the labor and socialist opposition

2. To encourage the U.S. toward a regime-change policy.

The official figure announced by the U.S. government regarding the number of participants in Saturday’s Los Angeles demonstration—the third key city of this call—was “thousands,” and that figure was correct.

Marco Rubio reiterated again on Sunday that Trump preference is an agreement through negotiation. In other words, the Canada–Europe propaganda campaign, which in all likelihood was carried out in coordination with Israel, is aimed at encouraging the U.S. toward regime change in Iran. He also tried at the Munich Security Conference to line Europe up behind “Trump’s new order.” In other words, and clearly, Europe and the United States are not aligned in their foreign policies.

As for the impact of propaganda on the labor and socialist opposition, it may not need emphasizing that in politics, sweets are not distributed—what is distributed is the balance of power. First, by spreading blatant lies, the West is pursuing the same outcomes that the Islamic Republic seeks through imprisonment, torture, and execution: rendering labor and socialist activists passive. Second, even if we filter out the lies, the mere holding of a some–tens-of-thousands pro-monarchy rally in Toronto is certainly not encouraging. In contrast, we are not discouraged or retreat; we need to necessarily act affirmatively and bring our own forces into the political stage. Our strengths are not Toronto and Munich—they are the heart of Iran. We need to think and work toward demonstrating our own power inside Iran.

1) According to the latest population census in Canada in 2021, the total number of Iranians living in the Greater Toronto Area was 88,000. Even if we assume a generous 20% increase to 105,000, how does that compare to the Canadian government’s “estimate” of 350,000? It should also be noted that hours before this demonstration, Anita Anand, Canada’s foreign minister, said at the Munich Security Conference: “Our country seeks regime change in Iran.”
