Radiofarda: Former Paralympic runner Sajad Salarvand reports being “detained by the IRGC Intelligence Organization”

Sajad Salarvand, a Paralympic runner, shared a post on Instagram describing his experience of detention and imprisonment, saying:

What I saw in prison made me grow older.”

Referring to his 70 percent disability, he said that after his arrest, the IRGC Intelligence Organization transferred him to Greater Tehran Prison.

Mr. Salarvand stated:

“I was held under the worst and harshest conditions, and I have now been released on heavy bail.”

He wrote that he is scheduled to appear at the Revolutionary Court on Sunday.

Mr. Salarvand said that among the charges brought against him are “threatening and encouraging actions against national security and the system of the Islamic Republic,” accusations which he says he does not accept.

He added:

“As long as this soul remains in my earthly body, I will stand with my people. Although with the things I saw and heard, I don’t know how long this soul will remain in this earthly body.”
